Where mains tap water is not readily available for eye irrigation, at least 1 litre of sterile water or sterile normal saline (0.9%) in sealed, disposable containers should be provided. Once the seal has been broken, the containers should not be kept for re-use. The container should not be used after the expiry date.

The First aid Mezzo eyewash dispenser offered by Hygo as a hygiene product is a first aid dispenser which should not be used beyond its expiry date. Since accidents cannot be predicted, one must always have an emergency first aid kit or a first aid pack ready for use at close proximity. Eyes are the most sensitive of the five of our senses and hence should be preserved even if it requires immediate administration of first aid. The Mezzo first aid eyewash dispenser must contain 500 ml eyewash, eye pads, eye wash pods, a mirror and soft tissues. This dispenser is particularly useful as a part of the van first aid kit wherein the tap water may not be readily available to facilitate eye irrigation. The disposable containers for normal saline water used in first aid packs and first aid emergency kit must be discarded after the seal is broken in order to prevent the spread of infection.
